10 Web Apps To Help With Your Transit Needs

10. Trapster
This one is fairly simple, but still great – it’s a crowdsourced web application that tells you where all the speed traps are. Those red-light cameras that send you tickets directly to your home – Trapster’s got those down too. Of course we’re not suggesting that you should be speeding or breaking red lights anyway, but it’s always better to be aware.

    GoPlanIt was good in theory (eg. customized suggested itineraries) and it’s a pretty site. But they never seemed to generate the levels of traffic that would make it truly functional. Two years later we have Trazzler but this also doesn’t seem to be catching on (judging by Quantcast traffic). My gut tells me people want to plan their own trips. Location, budget, length of stay, etc…those are all important for making decisions. But an algorithm will never work if you don’t really know the personality of the person. Hunch.com may succeed (and I believe Chris Dixon is a backer of Trazzler) but it’s not there yet, either.
