So where do most single women spend their money on? If you guessed clothes and shoes — you’d be way off the mark. It’s actually shelter and transportation.

In light of International Women’s day tomorrow, the Bureau of Labor Statistics came out with a report called “Women at Work” that shows how single women in America spend their money (there’s also tons of other graphs on earning patterns, education levels, etc.)

Turns out, in 2008–09, single women spent, on average, 25.4 percent of their annual expenditures on shelter, an expense that’s followed by transportation.

So tell us. Where do you spend most of your money?
