Railroad Administration
The Federal Railroad Administration is a federal agency whose job is to create and enforce safety regulations, administer and assist railroad programs, research and enact policy to improve operation of railroads and act as the body that coordinates all federal railroad initiatives. The FRA was created in 1966 by the Department of Transportation Act and is one of 10 agencies within the Department of Transportation. The FRA is also responsible for coordinating efforts and distributing federal money for the construction of a national network of high speed rail trains. The current Administrator of the FRA is Joseph C. Szabo, who was nominated for the position by President Barack Obama and confirmed on April 29th, 2009
